Maintenance Technician

Ballymaguire Foods is a fully Irish owned, major producer of fresh prepared meals. We produce a range of different product offerings for the own-brand, Irish retail and food-service industry. Due to the continued expansion of our business in Lusk, we now have a vacancy for an experienced Maintenance Technician to support the Production Operations function within the business.

Reporting to the Operations Manager you will be part of a small team responsible for the overall day to day maintenance operations of the Ballymaguire Foods operation, including but not limited to:-

  • Day to day maintenance of all plant, machinery and equipment.
  • Preventative maintenance scheduling.
  • Trouble shooting and fault finding in a fast paced manufacturing environment.

The role:

Working within the factory environment the Maintenance Technician will be required to provide engineering support to the production stream to maximise production line efficiencies. The role involves a focus on electrical/electronic and mechanical preventative techniques, fault finding and trouble shooting.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out general mechanical and electrical maintenance repairs as they arise.
  • On-going preventative maintenance of all plant and machinery.
  • Participation in problem solving activities. Electrical and mechanical process trouble shooting.
  • Complete electro-mechanical repairs to high speed food processing, handling and packaging equipment.
  • Supply technical support for the plant facilities & services including compressed air, steam, refrigeration and effluent plant.
  • All repair requirements including buildings and grounds.



  • A relevant technical qualification or a time served apprenticeship in a high volume, highly automated manufacturing environment – preferably food.
  • Proven experience in a high volume, highly automated manufacturing environment.
  • Specialisation in either electrical/electronic, mechanical or automation and control.
  • Strong familiarity with PLCs.
  • Food safety knowledge will be a big advantage.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Willing to work a 5 day over 7 roster with call-outs as required.

This is a full-time, permanent role.
